- עָכַן(cmp. עכב) to be curved, curled. Pi. עִיכֵּן (cmp. עִילָה, סִיבָּה end) to bring about, to cause. Snh.44b (play on עָכָן, Josh. 7:24) זמרי … שעי׳ עוונותיהםוכ׳ his name was Zimri (1 Chr. 2:6), but he was named ʿAkhan (Circle), because he caused the punishment of Israels sins.
